BABY DEDICATION
WHAT IS A BABY DEDICATION?
A baby Dedication is a formal/public opportunity to dedicate your children to the Lord. During a dedication, the parents promise to model and teach faith in Jesus Christ to their children. Freedom Church congregation promises to support the parents in the task of raising their children. It is a time of great joy for the family and the church.
WHAT'S THE EARLY HISTORY OF DEDICATION/BAPTISM?
Dedication of children began way back in the Old Testament when the Lord said to Moses, "Dedicate all the first-born males to me, for every firstborn male belongs to me.’ (Exodus 13:1-2)
Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord. (1 Samuel 1:27-28)
Jesus was dedicated to the Lord as a baby and then baptized as an adult. (Luke 2:22)
WHO AUTHORIZES BABY DEDICATION?
It is up to the local church to provide opportunities for parents to dedicate their children to the Lord.
